The Bodega Bay Fisherman’s Festival is a nonprofit organization. All Proceeds benefit Bodega Bay area community services, including Bodega Bay Community Association, Bodega Bay Elementary School PTA, Bodega Bay Firefighters Association, Bodega Bay Grange, Rancho Bodega Historical Society, Fisherman’s Marketing Association, Tomales High School programs, Redwood Empire Foster Parents, Bodega Bay Union Church, Bodega Volunteer Fire Department, and more.
The The Fisherman's Festival for the third year features the Wooden Boat Challenge (click for more info). On Saturday morning competing teams of four people each will begin with the same set of materials “lumber, nails, screws, even duct tape” and will attempt to build a boat capable of taking at least one of them around a short course in Bodega Harbor, racing against all the other teams.
This event is modeled after a wildly popular event at a coastal town in Canada, where teams routinely build imaginative vessels seaworthy enough to complete the race.
Volunteers Needed! (click for more info) The Bodega Bay Fisherman’s Festival is operated entirely by volunteers. Our event is a fundraiser to support non-profit organizations within Bodega Bay and surrounding communities. We support local schools, fire departments, historical societies, community organizations, to name a few… all with the money generated at the annual Fisherman’s Festival. Each year volunteers return to support this great Festival, and have a wonderful time with their friends and neighbors, existing and new. We are always looking for people to volunteer…. It takes a village to support a Festival. Please join us this year, and help us help others. Click here for a VolunteerGuidelines.pdf and here for an VolunteerSignUp.pdf.
For each four hour shift that you work, you will receive a
coupon for a free meal ($5 value), and drink, as well as credit for
your organization and/or community service assignment. Smaller shifts
are available. All monetary donations are greatly appreciated to
further help our non-profits. Please, contact Donna Martine.
Each year we sponsor a Crafts Fair (click for more info). We are looking for unique and traditional crafts that you have made yourself. The jury selects the most appealing-best-innovative crafts and strives to maintain a balance of various crafts. We look for quality in a crafter’s product, and do not accept less simply to fill booth spaces.
