The The Fisherman's Festival for the second year features the Wooden Boat Challenge. On Saturday morning competing teams of four people each will begin with the same set of materials “lumber, nails, screws, even duct tape” and will attempt to build a boat capable of taking at least one of them around a short course in Bodega Harbor, racing against all the other teams. This event is modeled after a wildly popular event at a coastal town in Canada, where teams routinely build imaginative vessels seaworthy enough to complete the race.
